Maize Import Ban Has Been Lifted for Individuals and Corporates
1st October, 2019
Zimyellowpage.com has been informed that maize import is legal in Zimbabwe, following the announcement made by the Agriculture Minister Perrance Shiri yesterday (30 September 2019).
The Minister Said:
“All those who want to import grain are free to do so, be it for domestic consumption or resale. It is up to the individual. Import licenses can be secured from the Ministry of Lands and Agriculture. There is no limit to the amount of grain you can import into the country,”
This announcement followed after nearly a year of maize ban import from individuals and corporates; Zimbabwe experienced drought last season which resulted in poor yields. The government has imported maize from Tanzania recently and their import muscle is not good enough to support Zimbabweans lives and their livestock without the extra hand from individuals and corporates at large.
It is said that the maize will be used to feed humans, livestock consumption and other industrial uses, until the next harvesting season.
